The CARW2023 caches will be published Thursday March 2, 2023 at 18:00 hours. As the caches are published, an event organizer will be building a public bookmark list of the caches and will be visible on any event cache page. Premium Geocaching.com members can use the bookmark to create and download a pocket query to load the caches into their GPSr's. For non-premium members, the pocket query should be available on the Download Page.
Please do not search for any CARW2023 caches prior to the 09:00 hours Saturday, March 4th. start.
Associated Events
A fun pre-event activity is to attend the kick-off event cache on Friday, March 3rd evening to:
Meet some experienced cachers;
Absorb some knowledge from the experienced cachers;
Share with new cachers, maybe scare them with horror stories too!;
Find a caching buddy for the event if your spouse/kids/geodog have disowned you;
Meet up with your geocaching team, to plan your route;
Work on CARW puzzles, & compare answers, hopefully right answers; and
Drop off, pick up, and discover Travel Bugs.
Other mid-week event caches may be held during CARW2023. A full list of associated events can be found here.
Searching for and finding CARW2023 caches starts at 09:00 hours Saturday, March 4th and continues through to 14:00 hours Saturday March 5th. Please do not search for caches before the start time.
Participation in this event is whatever you want to make it. Some hardy cachers will forgo sleep and cache through the night with the objective of finding every cache published for the event in the shortest time. But this is not necessary to participate and have loads of fun. Many cachers will set a more modest objective such as finding five or ten caches each day or for only one day. You decide what is right for you.
At 14:00 Saturday, March 5th. cache finding is over for the weekend and everyone heads to the Pre Wrap Up event to warm up and socialize. The cache finding then continues for the next week until Saturday, March 11th when the final Wrap Up event and awarding of prizes will take place.
Voting will be electronic using Google Forms. See the categories page for information on categories and voting.
Everyone is encouraged to take pictures of their adventures and send them to photos@geaa.ca to have them included in a slide show if there is a wrap up event and will be considered for the web site picture gallery.
Above all, have a safe and fun filled CARW experience.
